Make a difference where you live. Northstowe Town Council has a vacancy and intends to fill it by co-option. We’re looking for a community-minded person who can bring energy, ideas, and good judgement to help shape Northstowe’s future.
What does a Town Councillor do?
Represents residents and local interests
Helps set the Council’s priorities, budget, and policies
Works with partners to improve services and facilities
Attends council/committee meetings and community events
Full training and ongoing support are provided.
Who can apply?
You must meet the statutory eligibility to be a councillor (Local Government Act 1972), which includes:
Aged 18 or over, and
A British citizen, an eligible Commonwealth citizen, or an Irish citizen, and
On the day of application you are registered as a local government elector for Northstowe or have lived, worked, or owned/tenanted land or premises in Northstowe (or within 3 miles) for the last 12 months.
You must not be disqualified (e.g., certain bankruptcy restrictions, recent relevant criminal convictions, or being employed by the Council).

Shortlisted applicants may be invited to speak at a council meeting before members vote to co-opt.
Time commitment
Typically one evening meeting per month (plus preparation) and occasional working groups/events.
